Blast From The Past...

Eight years. 96 months. 2920 days.

That's how long I've been away from what I used to call 'home' in Hong Kong. It's also the last time since I've seen friends I grew up with at Island School. Living in Canada and having a 12 hour time difference can do some distance deterioation to friendships. As hard as you try to keep in touch - it's inevitable that you lose touch sooner or later.

Until today.

It seemed just like yesterday when the three of us used to hang out at our homes all on Conduit Rd. We would laugh hysterically about the craziest things, make up the silliest songs and go nuts over the Backstreet Boys. (not much has changed hah!) It seemed just like yesterday when we would attend the crazy 'IF' dance practices, run the killer 'second pagodas', go to TimeOut every other Friday and have our birthday parties at Dan Ryans. (mmm potato skins...!)

Today, I met up with two of my closest girls growing up here in Hong Kong at none other than Dan Ryans at Pacific Place. It's been EIGHT whole years since I've seen them! We spent a while catching up with the latest on everyone in our class and our school. It seems like nothing has really changed! We're all the same to some extent...

As we were laughing about the good ol' memories and talking about the 'nows' in our life - it really occurred to me how I am so different now. I am not the same as I was before. I've changed in so many ways... In the past eight years my life has been turned upside-down and right-side up after coming into a personal and intimate relationship with Jesus. I'm really not the same person as I used to be...!

"What this means is that those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A new life has begun!- 2 Cor. 5:17 NLT
