Father's Day and Life in the Fast Lane
I've only been back from China for two and half days now but I already feel as if it's been a week. Life back in Hong Kong is like life back in the fast lane.
There are things to do, people to see and food to eat! The weather is 100 times more humid and hotter than the weather in Kunming. Even the pace at which people walk at seems to triple. Everyone here is in a rush.
It's often hard not to let the speed of the tide consume you. God has been cautioning my heart and reminding me that I am built to swim against that tide. In just two short days I feel as if I've been pushed back into a life that can easily, and I mean easily, become mediocre and meaningless. Go with the flow.
In China, each day was nothing short of extraordinary and supernatural. My desire is just the same for life here in Hong Kong. Life is so fast that you need to be all the more intentional in your relationships - especially the most important one with the One who matters most. As I was spending some QT this morning God reminded me that if I desire to draw near to Him I need to position myself to be near to Him. Not just pray it but to be intentional about it. Time can pass you so quickly if you're not careful with it in HK. I pray that I would be the best steward of it by His grace.
I just need those gentle nudges of the Spirit and your much appreciated prayers!
Yesterday was Father's Day and that made me miss my family all the more! :(
During the 2nd service at the Vine Mike and I spotted this dad with his baby on his shoulders dancing and singing to God's praises. It was such an awesome sight to see! The Vine is all about their kids - which is so awesome - there are kids worshipping and dancing in the front of the tabernacle before they go off for their Sunday School. I just loved that sight with the baby and her daddy. It was so precious.
I'm so thankful for my dad - I miss him so much but am reminded all the more of his life and example to me that has made me who I am today. Sure, he can be loud and totally non-traditional most of the time, but I love him!
Last night I met Mike's dad's side of the family. It was his grandmother's birthday and of course Father's Day so we went out for their family dinner. They are so great! So loud and funny!
