A week later...

in Asia no more...

That's right folks, Kat Luk's Adventures are no longer in Asia...(for the time being), instead they will take place in what I'd like to call home, Thornhill. Yep, Thornhill - the hip and happenin'; the place to be.

Yeeeeah riiight. haha

It's been great being back catching up with family & friends, satisfying food cravings such as Swiss Chalet and Tim Horton's Ice Caps, savoring the gorgeous non-humid weather, and driving with windows rolled down and music blasting.

But there's really nothing quite like the past three months.

Coming back to Toronto I asked that God would prepare my heart after all the 'operations' it's gone through this summer so that I'd be ready to be fully here, back at home. I know that a huge chunk of me has just fallen in love with Asia but at the same time, for the time being as God wills it, I'm called to be here, Toronto.

As I was flying back on the plane, I couldn't help but feel a sense of displacement and just torn...Where was home? I know I was only gone for a short three months but Hong Kong did feel and become like home. I was so used to getting up (no matter what time in the day) and life all around me would be hustling and bustling. I love the city life and I love the fact that I can get anywhere so quickly and so conveniently. I love the openness and willingness of the people to get to know perfect strangers. I loved the fact that there was no tax so that food and clothing alike could be purchased at an incredibly cheap price!

Yet there were many times during my three month stay that I longed for Toronto and missed saying 'Eh' without being scrutinized. All my life - especially in my earlier years I've moved around. From my birth place of Vancouver, to Toronto, to Hong Kong - then back to Toronto. Where is home?

All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Heb. 11:13-15 (NIV)

Home is heaven.

Yet for now, it's Toronto, Canada. My hope and prayer is that I will be ALL HERE while I'm here. Please keep me accountable to it. But for now, I think a healthy dose of missing Asia is alright here and there! I just don't want to miss out on crazy opportunities and awesome adventures that are also in store on this part of the world. He's up to something and I want to be a part of it no matter the locality.

There's one song I learned at The Vine called 'Amazed' and it's been stuck in my head and rooted in my heart as I reflect on my summer these past few days.

"You dance over me while I am unaware, You sing all around but I never hear the sound. Lord I'm amazed by You, Lord I'm amazed by You! Lord I'm amazed by You, how You love me."

How true it is...!

The journey of this summer actually started two summers ago when God first laid an interest and tugging on my heart for China. How faithful He is that two years later not only could I go to China, I got to live in Hong Kong, attend a conference in Macau and minister in Singapore...

Picture taken by yours truly whilst the bf and I were waiting for the ferry from Cheung Chau

"Lord I'm amazed by You...!"

What made my trip even more incredible was the fact that I didn't have to experience it alone... ;)

I miss him!
