Looking Forward
I'm looking forward to...
1. Dilating my pupils tomorrow morning. I have an appointment with my optometrist bright and early to see what's going on behind these brown eyes.
You see, not many of you know that I wear contacts. Yes sirree, I do. And not many of you know that the degree in both my eyes are around 900. Yes sirree, I'm almost legally blind. The time between taking out my contacts and putting on my glasses is one colorful blur. It's been getting progressively, but slowly, worse. But the doctors say it should stabilize soon.
In any case, with people like me who have horrible eye sight - doctors have to dialate my eyes to see what's going on in the back or something or other. (Clearly, I'm not an optometrist!) Perhaps laser surgery is on the horizon? Anyway, for the next two hours after dilatation I'll have cool looking eyeballs. That is something I'm looking forward to :)
2. The Change Conference is this weekend. Formerly known as the Change Your World conference. It's a weekend long conference (I think you get the idea by now!) for youth and youth workers. The Friday night is usually the worship concert with a speaker. All day Saturday is full of workshops and training and in the evening it wraps up with the final session.
The Change conference has had a huge impact on me since Gr.12 when I first attended with my youth pastor and some friends. It was there that God told me to put the vision of YOAH into action. And ever since, I still believe in their vision of empowering young people to change their world.
This Saturday I'll be sharing about how God birthed and carried out the vision of Youth on a Hill a few years ago and how this summer I got the chance to share it in Macau and Singapore. Your prayers are appreciated - especially since there will be many young people there ready to walk in obedience to His call for them.
Ordinary teens who serve an extraordinary God.
3. I got an email from Alison today saying that the Vine's CD Who May Ascend? is here! Thanks to Derek for sending it over! I can't wait to listen to it!!! Mike and I got all giddy over the email :) For those who don't know, The Vine Christian Fellowship is the church I went to while I was in Hong Kong. They're an amazing bunch of people who really know what it means to love others. A huge part of why my summer was so memorable and why I miss it so much is because of this church and the people. I can't wait until the Ma's come to visit and we have a 180 Toronto reunion! (hopefully!)
4. Next weekend I'll be travelling down to Atlanta, Georgia with my friend to attend a small conference called Access 2006 at the Passion Conferences House with good ol' Louie G. It's a conference for uni/college ministers from all over the States to share, encourage and pray for one another. I don't view myself as a college minister - but I'm definitely excited to learn from 30 others in 2 weekends! I'm quite pumped about this - so once again, prayers are definitely appreciated :)
5. On November 4th I will be attending THE concert of the year. I've sang along to his songs since I was in Junior High, I used to have posters of him and his boys plastered across my wall, and recently when he came out as a Christian recording artist my love for him just grew...! On November 4th, Gizelle and I will be seeing BRIAN LITTRELL IN CONCERT!!! Eeeeee! :)

6. There are people near and dear to my heart who are coming home soon in the next few days, weeks and months! People from Hong Kong, Pennsylvania, New York, Kingston, London...the list goes on. They are people I'm looking forward to seeing again :)
Anyway, that's my short but sweet list of what I'm looking forward to, as God wills, in the next while :)
Until the next post - keep fit and have fun!
